ArcSight's real-time correlation engine is its standout capability. It links disparate security events to surface complex attack patterns that simpler tools miss. That depth comes with a tradeoff — setup is resource-intensive, and you'll need experienced personnel to configure it well. The platform handles large data volumes, but users note that search performance can degrade under heavy load.

Splunk Enterprise Security takes a broader analytics approach. User and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) let you catch threats that don't fit known patterns. Machine learning helps flag anomalies across massive datasets. And if your security stack involves many different tools and data sources, Splunk's wide integration support makes it easier to bring everything together.
