License/Subscription Cost

On-Premise:

  • Based on Named User License model: A named user is where the license is tied to a specific user
  • The license cannot be shared with other users
  • On-Premise deployment requires an upfront fee to own the software plus IP for a fixed term plus implementation/installation, maintenance, system upkeep overtime, customization and third-party integration costs which are over and above the license fee
  • 10 to 15 percent is the typical rate of perpetual or renewal licensing for ERP systems

Cloud-Based/SaaS:

  • Based on recurring subscription based model – per user per month

Maintenance Cost

On-Premise:

  • Users have to enter into a maintenance agreement for annual support and maintenance. The cost of which is in the range of 10 and 20 percent of the original license fee

Cloud-Based/SaaS:

  • Cost will vary depending on the number of users using the system
  • Upgrade fee is charged - an additional cost for upgrading the software to new releases which is essential for ERP system to be fully functional
  • Additional cost if new additions to hardware and software are made for ensuring that upgrades runs seamlessly
  • Users have access to online customer support center –EPICweb which provides 24X7 technical support
  • Epicor provides full upgrade packages, ad-hoc services, technical consulting, early-stage project planning assistance for those who choose to upgrade on their own
Installation/Implementation Cost
  • For both types of deployments, cost is over and above the subscription cost
  • Implementation cost is calculated - based on the ratio of software to service
  • Cost will vary based on the number of users, system architecture, implementation scope and complexity, company size, industry and third-party integrations
  • Third-party integrations involve consultation cost. Most external consultants charge hourly rates ranging from $75 to over $200.
  • Third-party services are priced at 30 to 35 percent of the system cost
  • Additional applications and customization will increase the implementation cost
  • Involves human resources cost during implementation phase as users may need to spend additional time understanding the system and additional temporary workers to replace the users who will be working on the ERP project
  • Cost will vary depending on who is providing the implementation services: vendor, in-house or outsourced/third -party

Customization Cost

Data Migration Cost/Change Management/Upfront Switching Cost

  • Additional licenses to be purchased separately for Database Management System of ERP. Cost of these licenses are not included in the implementation cost

Recurring/Renewal Costs

    For both types of deployments, the standard license renewal fees for an ERP is 10% to 15% of the software costs

    On-Premise:

    • Annual recurring fees to be paid over and above the upfront cost for annual renewal, upgrades and on-going support and maintenance plus customization, third-party integration and training cost

    Cloud-Based/SaaS:
