Before diving into the specific Salesforce competitors we recommend you take a look at, we wanted to give you an idea of a few CRM vendors’ market share.
As of 2016 (the most recent data available), Salesforce leads the way a 25% market share. After Salesforce comes a three-way tie for second place between SAP, Oracle and Microsoft with about 8% market share. As Chuck Schaeffer at CRM Search notes, these three providers may be tied for now, but they’re trending very differently. In 2010, Oracle had a higher market share than Salesforce, but it’s been declining ever since. Starting in 2013, it started declining even more rapidly. SAP similarly had a higher market share than Salesforce seven years ago, and although it’s been declining since then as well, it’s been a little steadier. Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM, on the other hand, was a very distant fourth place in 2010. Since then, it’s market share has been steadily increasing, and if the trend continues, Microsoft should have sole possession of second place in 2017.
